On the 17th of May, 2025, the Idoma Daughters and Wives Association (IDWA), Port Harcourt Branch, under the leadership of the coordinator, Mrs. Elizabeth Agada, the Ojonya 1 K’Idoma, held its inaugural and uniquely memorable award ceremony.
The primary objective of the event was to create awareness about the mission and goals of IDWA, what we stand for, what we do, and our contribution to society. Additionally, the occasion served as a platform to generate funds and attract sponsorships that will empower the organization to successfully implement its projects and community initiatives.
We are immensely grateful to God for the success of the event. It was graced by esteemed dignitaries, proud sons and daughters of Idoma land, and well wishers who share a genuine love and passion for the Idoma people and culture.
We were pleasantly surprised and deeply encouraged by the turnout – a hall filled with individuals who not only resonated with our vision but also wholeheartedly embraced and supported our cause. The enthusiasm and alignment of our guests with our ideals were truly heartwarming.
Our award recipients expressed immense joy and pride in the recognition they received. Their support was overwhelming, and many expressed a strong desire to contribute even more to the advancement of our goals after witnessing the event.
The ceremony was a vibrant celebration of culture and unity. Guests enjoyed a rich array of music, dance, traditional displays, and an abundance of food and drinks. It was a joyous occasion that reflected the strength, unity, and cultural pride of our association. Interestingly, many men in attendance admired the strong sense of unity among us and expressed a desire to form similar associations in their own communities.
In conclusion, the event was a resounding success and a testament to the power of unity, purpose, and cultural pride. We look forward to greater achievements and continued support as we move forward with our vision.
Lastly, I would like to express my profound gratitude to our National Chairperson, Dr. Sarah Aduwari, for her vision and support toward the growth of our organization. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to the local Organizing Committee chairperson, Mrs. Patience Ogochukwu, for her zeal, dedication, and remarkable leadership.
Furthermore, I sincerely thank the strong and inspiring women of the IDWAPH branch. Your contributions have been invaluable without you, this success would not have been possible.
I say a big thank you to you all
